MANAGER

Recently my new job has given me a new title – Inxxxxxx Manager.

It doesnt excite me at all, with the remuneration offered which does not justify the name. In fact, I’m very used to today society where you got to see a lot of positions with the manager at the back, eg. Sales Manager, Account Manager, Purchasing Manager, Project Manager and etc.

Let me share how I look at these titles:

Basically they are nothing but names! I dont think adults working for more than 5 years would still have this wrong perception that these positions must be managerial level people. I am not suprise fresh graduates or people who just step into the society will see it otherwise.

The intention of making “good names” to make you feel great, in a way the employee/companies want to create a “wrong impression” to the customers that someone at the managerial level is serving them. In addition they want to ensure customers feel comfortable with certain decision making done by these so-called “managers”.

I seriously dont see myself as the “real” manager but in fact this is just s given title that could facilitate my work better and give more confidence to the customers that this “manager” should have the ability to serve them better.

One day when I really see myself a Manager, I’d admit and tell you, I’m the manager.
